2024 UPM Year End Report

As we close out 2024, we are proud to reflect on a year of resilience, progress, and collective action. Urban Peace Movement has continued to fight for an Oakland and Alameda County that supports our young people and communities to be healthy, thriving, and safe. This includes prioritizing investments in community resources and alternatives to incarceration, which remain at the heart of our work. Please see the attached report for highlights of the progress we’ve made together.

At the same time, we acknowledge the profound challenges our communities are already facing this year. The devastating fires in Los Angeles have deeply impacted many Black and Brown families and communities, reminding us of the inequities we must continue to confront. Moreover, we’ve seen policies aimed at dismantling the progress we’ve fought for, and we anticipate that 2025 will bring both familiar and new challenges to our movement.

Through it all, we remain steadfast in our commitment to building a future where every community has the resources to thrive, where safety is defined by care and connection—not incarceration—and where young people have the opportunity to lead and succeed.

We are extremely grateful for your continued support, which makes this work possible. As we gear up for 2025, we are ready to fight for our communities with even greater determination. Together, we will stand united, push back against injustices, and protect the progress we’ve made while creating pathways for more transformative change.

Thank you for standing with us. We look forward to continuing this critical work with you in the months ahead. Here’s to another year of solidarity, action, and shared victories.
