The new Culture Keepers website showcases artists and culture makers who offer “sustenance and healing in a time of global upheaval.”
The platform highlights Urban Peace Movement as a “Culture Hub,” which the creators describe as a place “where artists, culture keepers, and neighbors come to gather, dream, heal, and create,” and work to “sustain the creative and cultural work that defines our region’s identity and resilience.”
The Culture Keepers site features rich multimedia profiles of 20 Bay Area artists, including five creatives with deep ties to UPM!

About Urban Peace Movement
Urban Peace Movement (UPM) is an Oakland based nonprofit organization that leads campaigns and programs throughout Alameda County. UPM builds youth leadership to transform the culture and social conditions that lead to community violence & mass incarceration in communities of color. UPM leads with a “Healing-Centered Youth Organizing” model because we believe that organizing is healing and healing is organizing.
